I found Target’s secret clearance stash—and it’s not where you think

Hey there,

Let me ask you something: Have you ever walked into Target with a list of five things and walked out with… not a single one of them, but somehow still spent $86.43?

Just me? No, didn’t think so 😅

That was me last Saturday, except this time, I actually did get what I needed and scored a few amazing extras… all thanks to one of my favorite Target tricks that most shoppers completely miss.

It’s not in the app. It’s not on the weekly ad.
It’s just quietly sitting there, if you know where to look.

The Trick: The Endcap Clearance Hunt

So here’s the deal: Target doesn’t just have one clearance section. They have lots of mini clearance sections sprinkled throughout the store. Most of them live on endcaps, those little shelf areas at the end of each aisle, especially in home goods, baby, seasonal, and kitchen.

Most people don’t pay attention to them. They’re not flashy. They look random. But ohhh, the treasures.

Last weekend, I was grabbing paper towels when I spotted one of those endcaps. I almost kept walking, but then I saw a tiny red sticker and my brain said, pause.
I walked over, and boom:

✔️ $35 bamboo storage basket marked down to $11
✔️ Cute ceramic mug set, originally $18, now $5.40
✔️ A twin sheet set I didn’t know I needed until it was 70% off 😅

I ended up getting $84 worth of stuff for $26. No coupons, no app, no planning. Just paying attention.

Why This Works

Target employees move clearance items from the regular aisles to the endcaps as stock changes or new collections come in.
That means these endcaps change often, and the markdowns get deeper the longer things sit.

Here’s my little strategy:

  • Walk the outer loop of the store, then duck into the back side of each section.

  • Look for the red or yellow clearance tags.

  • Scan anything interesting in the app, sometimes it’s marked even lower than the sticker says.
